Epoxy Repair Salina Kansas

This was an epoxy garage floor repair project we completed in Salina Texas. The owner purchased a kit to resurface the existing concrete surface. He followed the instructions step by step making sure it was completed properly. Apparently the floor looked excellent when complete. He even stayed off the floor for 8 days to make sure it was fully cured.

Finally the owner moved his motorcycle on the surface and as is typical with the DIY kits the epoxy coating started peeling off the surface.

The solution we provided was to grind the failed coating off the floor followed by grinding the top cementitious layer. This opened the pores allowing our coating to soak into the surface. The next coat was a 12 mil top coat with a full chip application. As you can see the new coating came out excellent. It will last for years.

We have numerous decorative concrete options for our clients throughout Kansas. Each floor has unique problems requiring various solutions. That includes function and design challenges that we are faced with every day.

As you can see in the photos here, the decorative options are vast. We use a combination of overlays with integral color and dyes, plus concrete grinding, polishing and sealing.

Color choices are unlimited with graphics that can be customized for your floor. All graphics are protected by coatings and sealers. Graphic options include using customized stencils, dyes and stains to imbed the design into the concrete and protect with various types of sealers.

For other applications like our polyurea coatings, we use a high definition, perforated cloth between coats. Either way the floor will handle foot traffic, tires from autos and fork lifts. The processes are ideal for adding a memorable, unique look to your store, retaurant, garage or industrial facility.

The process is to inspect your concrete to determine the appropriate application then discuss the various decorative options. We cover to the Kansas and Oklahoma market.

The process of choosing garage cabinets for your Kansas home starts with extensive measuring. We measure for corners, doors, outlets, windows, drains, cut outs and ceilings. Then we measure what you plan to store in them.

We also measure for wall panels and storage of items like garden tools, sporting goods and bicycles. There are options for overhead storage via platforms with pulley systems.

Once all measurements are completed we design on a CAD system and present the options to you.

Delivery is aligned with application of coatings. All your gear is removed and stored in a mobile storage unit while we apply your new garage floor. The process starts with grinding the floor smooth with our dustless concrete grinding system, cracks and damaged ares are repaired. Two coats of high performance polyurea are applied. This is a premium coating found in tough environments like high traffic industrial and distribution buildings.

Polyureas cure quickly so your new garage cabinets and wall systems can be installed the next day.

Epoxy floor coating is the general term for concrete coatings but new technologies has created new products with a different name. The product we use is a polyurea. It looks and performs like epoxies with superior features and benefits. Application systems are different as well.

Polyurea Features and Benefits

  1. Surface Preparation – Polyureas soak into the floor, epoxies stick to the surface. Polyureas need a floor that has been ground smooth removing highs and lows in the surface. This allows the coatings to soak into the flooring becoming part of the cement. This prevents possibilty of coating failure from moisture pressure.
  2. Crack and Patch Repair - Polyurea repair products are activated by moisture and compatible with polyureas whereas many crack and repair products will not hold up to moisture and lack the chemical cross linking with epoxies.
  3. Scratch Resistant – Scratched epoxies have frayed edges that trap moisture and dirt. Polyureas develop straight edges that do not trap dirt and moisture. They are easy to keep clean.
  4. Non Slip – Epoxy surface prep requires shotblasting creating increased surface area like with coarse sandpaper. The negative is this system does not remove the highs and lows in the floor. It merely follows the surface. The result is a coating thick in the low areas, thin in the highs. Non slip aggregate becomes non existant in thick areas as it settles to coating bottom. In high areas where it’s thin, the non slip aggregate protrudes the surface and is easily dislodged.  Polyureas are a consistent thickness with controlled non slip aggregate. It works.
  5. Decorative – We use 1/16th inch chips that are not porous and looks like quartz. Quartz though decorative is porous and absorbs dirt. Extensive cleaning of a dirty quartz epoxy floor inreases porosity making floor even dirtier.

These features are not apparent to consumers until well after the floor gets used.  Though the word epoxy may be generic for industrial coatings, polyureas solve the problems that have plagued concrete floor owners for decades. Industrial and Garage Polyurea and Epxy Coatings Kansas, Ks

In recent years we have expanded our epoxy floor coatings into advanced technology polyureas throughout Kansas, Ks.

We have found extraordinary results for both industrial and garage  applications. Polyureas are very technical. They require extensive training and investment into specialized surface preparation equipment.

The most important proceedure with polyureas is to grind the floor to a flat surface removing the highs and lows. A flat surface will result in application with consistent thickness throughout. Epoxy coatings require a different floor prep system. Shotblasting is the preferred prep method for epoxies but will not remove highs and lows in the surface. Epoxies are self leveling which means inconsistent thickness. Some areas are thick, others are thin. We have seen rapid wear at the thin areas of application.

A polyurea looks the same as epoxies initially. However polyureas do not scratch as easy and are low maintenance. We have found they wear much better over the long term.

We use decorative chips in 1/4 and 1/16th inch. The smaller chips look like granite. For non slip performance we use a glass aggregate that is not porous. It will not absorb dirt nor get dirty. This is a big factor for long term performance. Epoxies scratch with frayed edges trapping dirt. If a quartz is added this will cause additional coloring issues. Quartz is porous and absorb dirt. Floors look great at first but discolor quickly.

Polyureas have features increasing performance with cost efficiency over the long term.

Industrial Floor Coatings Ks

We specialize in industrial floor coatings throughout Kansas ( Ks ) like in the photos pictured here. Most of the projects we complete are range from garage floors to large warehouse projects in the range of 500 – 20,000 square feet. We have a strong network of affiliates giving us the capability to service small and large clients locally and nationwide.

The products and application systems are not your typical contractor grade, off the shelf coatings. What we offer our clients is very specialized and high performance. It’s something we do every day and have been doing for years.

Pricing is very competitive. In fact our systems and products give you more for the money with log term savings.

Each project starts with floor grinding. Our equipment and techniques enable us to get a smooth, flat surface eliminating the highs and lows inherent in concrete. This step is critical. Our ultimate goal is to apply our polyurea coatings at a consistent thickness throughout the floor. You may have seen floor coatings that wear unevenly prematurely. If a surface is not ground smooth and flat, coatings will be thin on the high spots. Repair becomes expensive.

Once the floor is prepped, we fill in all the cracks and damaged areas with a product that flows into the concrete. It is flexible and non shrink. This feature prevents cracking that can bleed through the top coat. The repair products are 100% compatible with our coatings. The top coat is the same chemical structure as the repair product. If you’ve experienced problems at cracks it is likely the combination of repair products not compatible with a coating or moisture pressure due to using the wrong product.

Our non slip additive is blended in our coating, not broadcast into the surface. We use a specific size that will not float to the bottom, nor too large that it protrudes through the surface where it can dislodge. Our non slip aggregate is non porous and will not discolor. The use of a porous non slip particle makes the floor look perpetually dirty and impossible to clean.

Visit our website for more details about our systems, colors and design options.

Kansas Industrial Garage Floor Coatings

We install industrial garage floor coatings throughout Kansas. We also provide complete remodeling services including steel and wood organizational cabinets.

The garage remodeling market has expanded for a few reasons. It seems that the majority of our clients choose a remodel to expand the existing space in their home rather than moving into a larger property.

It’s also because the quality of floor coating products and application systems produce flooring that lasts indefinitely. Until a few years ago coating technology had not progressed.  It was not profitable for an applicator to install a high quality industrial finish. It just took to long. A premium epoxy took at least 4 days to install. That meant an applicator could only do 1 job per week.

Today there are polyureas that can be applied in 1 day. Typically the first day is surface preparation including crack repair and grinding. The second day was application of two coats. Now an applicator can complete 2-3 jobs per week with superior results. Now it is a profitable business. An applicator doesn’t have to sacrifice quality to make a profit.

As quality has improved, so has the development of garage cabinets. The combination of advanced flooring technology and improved organizational cabinets has led to home owners utilizing valuable space in their garage.

Wichita Kansas Garage Floor Coatingd and Organizatio Cabinets

Here’s another one of our garage floor coating projects we completed in Wichita Kansas. This one, the client was looking for not just a new floor, but a complete remodel including custom organization cabinets.

It takes some planning to get these projects together. First we need to work with the client to know what exactly they plan to store. Then everything needs to be measured. Garden tools, gold clubs, tools all need a place. We organize by ease of access and frequency of use.The process can get very involved, especially if the owner uses the space for a hobby, like car collecting.

Once everything is measured we order all the cabinets. Then we plan the floor coating application to be finished just before the cabinets arrive. Ideally we store all the goods outside the garage, apply the coating, install the cabinets and finally place all the customers goods and accessories in their appropriate place.

When complete it’s like adding a new  addition to the home. Interested in a garage floor coating sysytem your home? Give us a call at 1-316-303-1772. We’re based in Wichita Kansas and travel the state depending on the project size.

Many of the industrial floor projects we restore in Kansas are like the one featured here. Notice in the top photo how the epoxy is chipping off the floor. This was caused due to a few reasons.

  1. Improper Surface Preparation – Likely the floor was etched with an acid solution. Acid particles get in the pores of the surface. They are reactivated when the coating is applied causing the coating to fail.
  2. Damaged Surface - In the second image you can see the coating was merely applied to rough concrete. The surface should have been ground smooth.
  3. Low Quality Coating Application – In the third photo you can see how the tire marks leave an impression. Low quality coatings get dirty and unattractive fast. They can also become very slippery.
  4. Faulty Surface Repair – You can see in the fourth photo that the filler used never fully cured. The coatings were applied to a wet filler. It never had a chance of surviving.
  5. Grinding Off The Old Coating – In this image we ground off the old coating and created a new, smooth surface and repaired.

The final photo shows a newly resurfaced floor that will last for years. If your industrial floor coating is old or failing we can restore it. We grind the old coating completely off the surface. We fill all the cracks properly and resurface with a high performance polyurea. We add a non slip aggregate to each layer exceeding OSHA recommended levels of safety. We service Kansas and neighboring states.

Kansas Epoxy Repair

Many of the projects we complete throughout Kansas start with epoxy repair. Frequently the coating was improperly applied or was an inferior or wrong grade of epoxy.

As you can see in the above photos, this was a project where the coating started to delaminate and chip. We were able to remove some of the coating with a scraper and the balance were ground off with our dustless vacuum system. We use coarse diamond blades which will easily remove the failed coatings in most cases.

In some cases the applicator didn’t bother or fix the large air holes on the surface. As you can imagine, if the air holes are not opened and properly repaired, the new coating has nothing of substance to adhere to. In these cases we chip out the old concrete and fill with our polyurea crack filler. When there are cracks we fill completely, then we grind the floor to a smooth level finish.

Once the floor is properly prepared we apply our polyurea concrete coating. Now your set with a quality system that will endure for years. If you need to repair your epoxy contact us at the number above. We are located in Wichita Kansas.
